Summer Solstice 2023

The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere (in terms of daylight hours).

The summer solstice is an annual astronomic event. Traditionally it is a time of celebration and summer festivals and is used to track changes in seasons each year.

The December solstice causes the longest day and shortest night of the year in Australia and the rest of the Southern Hemisphere. This will be the moment the Earth’s south pole reaches its furthest tilt away from the sun. The Antarctic Circle will have 0 hours of darkness.

The word solstice is derived from the Latin word solstitium which translates to “sun stands still”.

See today as a start of new beginnings. Think and dream big. Put plans into action. Wishing you all the best.
