Dr Brad McEwen PhD is a leader in preventive health, particularly in the area of cardiometabolic health, mental and cognitive health, and women’s health. He is a public health and nutrition scientist, naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist, educator, researcher, and mentor with over 23 years of clinical experience. He has a PhD from University of Sydney, Master of Health Science (Human Nutrition) and Master of Public Health (MPH) from Deakin University, among other qualifications. He has a passion for teaching and has been educating in nutritional and naturopathic medicine and the health sciences for over 18 years. He is Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Cross University. He has extensive experience in presenting seminars, webinars, and at conferences both nationally and internationally (United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, New Zealand). He is Head of Products, Trends, and Innovation of an award-winning leading Australian manufacturing company.
He has numerous original research and review articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Brad has a passion for research. Brad’s PhD focussed on the effect of Omega-3 on platelet function and coagulation. The secondary focus was on diurnal coagulation and fibrin generation in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. He is a peer reviewer for international journals. His research interests include the effects of diet and nutrition on cardiovascular disease, cardiometabolic syndrome, depression, anxiety, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, cognition, stress, type 2 diabetes, chronic disease, and public health. Dr Brad McEwen has a special interest in increasing public health, increasing and improving access to health services, overall chronic disease prevention, increasing access to nutritional foods and information for all schools and universities, enhancing the environment for future generations, and health equity.
Dr Brad has received numerous national and international awards (awards), including the Eberhard F. Mammen Young Investigator Award (an international award in thrombosis and haemostasis), Excellence in Practice Lecturer Researcher of the Year award, and the Dorothy Hall Memorial Award for Practitioner Excellence (an award for the advancement of natural medicine in Australia). Dr Brad has been a multiple finalist for Practitioner of the Year, Researcher of the Year, and Educator/Lecturer of the Year.

Brad played a major role in the preparation of the Bachelor of Health Science Honours degree for submission to TEQSA for Endeavour College of Natural Health. Brad is currently on the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS), Australia’s largest national professional association of natural medicine practitioners.

Brad has extensive training in nutrition, naturopathy, health, public health, and the health sciences. He keeps up to date by regularly attending seminars for continuing professional education (CPE). Brad has a strong passion for seeing people succeed and achieve their goals and beyond. He also enjoys chocolate, travel, photography, walking, and conversation.

The Institute officially opened in 2002 as part of the clinic (established 1999). The Institute has had various names over the years with its running name in the background. Nutrition, herbal medicine, and lifestyle medicine play an integral role in promoting health.
